This toy should make the manufacturer proud. My 5-year-old son and I put it collectively in one morning (most of the time we were waiting for the glue to dry). When you glue the trusses to the 3 bottom beams, sharpen the leftover dowel including sand paper and thread it through the holes on the top of the trusses to align those holes. Once the glue is dry, cut the dowel to mass in place.4. Instead of gluing the bottom center beam right on the center of the trusses, move it forward one half creep so that you can clamp it.

Got this for a friend for his 30th birthday. I figured it was about time he had a medieval siege engine. Honestly this might be somewhat educational to a child, but it's really for adults. Was fun and reasonably easy to put together. The only fall up was tweaking the 'sling' length. You'll know when you get it aptly, suddenly your 2-3 foot shots will become 12-20 foot shots. It's well worth the time spent tweaking it.As a fun addendum, consider getting approximately "Spitballs" water gel balls. They expand to about 200x their size in water, and are EXACTLY the aptly size and weight to launch with this thing. Add to that their untreated bounciness and tendency to explode and there is much fun to be had.

This is a great kit. I was a little skeptical as I saw the parts came in one board and that they had to be snipped out and sanded, but it wasnt a ton of work and was a great bonding encounter with my son (10 yrs old). We built the whole thing over 2 days, and it took about 6 hours from notch the wrap to firing projectiles around the house. We let it sit overnight for the glue to harden at that calculate finished the lob the 2nd day. It took us about 10 attempts to figure out how to get the pouch to work and to adjust the lob to fire correctly. Great manufactured goods, sturdy, learning, and plain old fun.
