I just receive mine and establish it to be hazy. The lengths waivered somewhere starting 10.01mm all the way up to 10.16mm. It's easy to get on to a accurate approximation to a cube. I thought I was paying for precision, but was really just over paying for a poorly machined cube.

The dimensions were better than 1.5 thousandth of an inch (much better on most sides) as measured by a extra Mitutoyo 293-180 QuantuMike. The lone business to be attentive of is lettering is more of a silver white than what I would encourage a white white,also it looks like the cycle(?) including the 'B' has been blacked out, neither of which would be a non-qualifier pro me.

1cm Black Polished Scale Cube

Extent cubes used for taking pictures and photographs of meteorites, geology, plants, or anything where you need an object in the picture as a reference for size and/or direction. They are made of Tungsten Carbide, a extremely hard dense material. Properly cared for they should last a lifetime. They come in un plated, PVD (18 K gold), PVD (Black which is made of Titanium Nitrile and Aluminum) You can get them as either shiny (polished) or matte (brushed) finishes. The letters are Laser Etched T on top and 1cm B on bottom N, E,W, and S on sides. All letters have a dot showing the bottom of the letter. Extent cubes are used for a variety of purposes, used in geologic (meteorites) pictures taken in the field, in a photo studio, and as a reference in photographs where the size of an object would not otherwise be known. (Geologist often used shovels or rulers in the past but extent cubes are now being used more often in taking pictures of small objects) They are often used where the faces can be aligned to match compass bearings. The different faces (T-top, B-bottom, N-North, S-South, E-East, W-West) can also be used as an indication as to which side of the object the viewer is seeing
